 Intention

At Brightlingsea Primary School and Nursery, we are dedicated to engaging all pupils in an enquiry approach where they investigate, become interested in and understanding of the different ways in which those around us live.

Children will learn about and appreciate the diverse religious and cultural beliefs and practices within our community and beyond, and how these differences should be celebrated and make us special. Children will be encouraged to respect and be open-minded to the differing beliefs and views of others.

We know that the children of Brightlingsea do not necessarily experience exposure to diverse beliefs and cultures, therefore we aim to provide examples of these beliefs and cultures that are found as geographically close to us as possible. We aim to link our RE learning to the community through visits to local places of worship and to invite in visitors from a range of faiths.

Implementation

Children will also be encouraged to explore their own opinions and beliefs in a safe environment where they can reflect upon and gain high spiritual and moral values.

We aim to inspire awe and wonder when investigating the physical and spiritual world around us, providing opportunities to reflect upon our world.

Impact

This provision will contribute significantly to the children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development which will prepare them for adult life and the roles they will play in the future.

*Please note that there may be some changes to the long term plan in the 2020-2021 academic year due to the disruption from the Covid-19 pandemic.*
